Frustrated and Eating
I've been interested in your articles and thought this area to do with food is a big issue for me. I know I eat when I get fustrated, sometimes that can seem alot, is this something that you can assist with? Do you think there is a root to my fustrated eating habit?

Hello Rosemary,
Thank you for your courage to share of yourself.
First, some off topic points before I start.
It is ironic, we've been wanting to start polls and haven't gotten around to figuring out yet how it works. And here you visit and set up a poll.
Great that you did.
I'm curious, if you don't mind me asking, are you familiar with Forums and creating polls or is this your first time and it was easy enough to figure out?
Now to your post.
I know I eat when I get fustrated, sometimes that can seem alot, is this something that you can assist with?
Certainly. See: Holistic Ailment Awareness!
What would you like to achieve from the assistance?
Do you think there is a root to my fustrated eating habit?
Yes, I suspect there is a root cause: in fact I'm convinced. Please answer these in turn as clearly as can:
- How badly does this frustrate you?
- How badly do you want to stop eating when you're not hungry?
- Does this behavior affect your quality of life?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Emmanuel

Hi Rosemary, glad to hear from you!
Thank you for the interest in our articles. I can really relate to your statement, as I eat when I am feeling angry, worthless or sad too.
Emmanuel will definitely be able to assist you with this.
Great Poll! :-)

What would I like to achieve? To be able to recognise my feelings that cause me to eat and why it is food that I turn to.
How badly does this frustrate me? A lot, to the point that I try and keep my cupboards bare apart from essential healthy foods, cereals, rice, pasta etc.. and no junk
How badly do I want to stop eating when I'm not hungry? The thing is I do feel hungry, all of the time infact, even now when sitting at my pc typing this I feel hungry. It's late and I've had a supper about an hour ago, so know I shouldn't be hungry. Medically everything is fine, so I know it has to do with how I'm feeling.
does this behaviour affect my quality of life? Yes, my weight is a continual fight and I don't want it to be.
sorry for the delay in replying

Hello Rosemary,
You are welcome!
Yes, unfortunately I do, I've just come out of such a spell about a week and a half ago, and it went on for a few weeks. I get very depressed and find it very difficult to get out of that mode. And that is when I do my 'worst' eating too, it feels as if it is the only thing that lessens the inner pain, if you know what I mean. It is maddening, as I know that I fall under one part of the equation of what happens to people when they are depressed - the ones who eat more, but why could I not fall under the other half who doesn't eat at all? Smile, that is just the way that my being reacts to that, and I find it so frustrating, as every time I think I have conquered this darkness, it seems to creep up on me and I find it really exhausting to just stay alive.
Closing myself off from society does not help either. So, even though I wrote the article about Comfort Eating, I felt I could deal with it then, but unfortunately I find that my emotions when I feel worthless are so overpowering that I fall again and again. I certainly need to find the part within me that can release the sense of worthlessness.
It is wonderful to have you share your feelings and thoughts so openly, and I find it uplifting to share in it - thank you!
Love,
Yolanda

As a starter see: Life Beyond Thinking and Feeling.
Rosemary, I acknowledge you for sharing of yourself and for your openness.
What would I like to achieve? To be able to recognise my feelings that cause me to eat and why it is food that I turn to.
I know I eat when I get fustrated
There is a deeper question.
With frustrations there has to have been an expectation.
Why the expectation?
See Expectations: Frustration, Anger and Irritation.
How badly does this frustrate me? A lot, to the point that I try and keep my cupboards bare apart from essential healthy foods, cereals, rice, pasta etc.. and no junk
A sound start. Alas, do you see this is treating the symptom?
Same as with aforementioned, let's rather look at what transpires prior the frustration!
How badly do I want to stop eating when I'm not hungry? The thing is I do feel hungry, all of the time infact, even now when sitting at my pc typing this I feel hungry. It's late and I've had a supper about an hour ago, so know I shouldn't be hungry.
does this behaviour affect my quality of life? Yes, my weight is a continual fight and I don't want it to be.
In the article mentioned at the start of this post, see what John endures because he cannot catch the ball. Do you feel something similar within yourself while frustrated.
Thus something that went before feeling frustrated that caused the frustration. What is that something? Then what do you feel when that something transpired?
Medically everything is fine, so I know it has to do with how I'm feeling.
Excellent!
